Renske de Jong receives prestigious Humbold fellowship

Renske de Jong was just awarded a postdoctoral fellowship from the Alexander von Humboldt foundation. The foundation offers fellowships to high profile researchers from abroad that want to conduct a scientific project in a german institution of their choice. Renske de Jong is a current postdoctoral fellow in the Ohnmacht group at ZAUM where she will also carry out her project. The fellowship will cover her salary for two years together with some money for consumables. The aim of her study will be to identify pathways linking intestinal immunity to the risk of developing arteriosclerosis. For this purpose, Renske can rely on her previous expertise in arteriosclerosis research during her PhD and combine this knowledge with recent progress made in the regulation of intestinal tolerance and microbiome research. Thereby Renske hopes to identify novel strategies to prevent or treat arteriosclerosis and associated cardiovascular diseases in the future.
